Modio Palace

Questo imponente edificio del XV secolo troneggia sul lato meridionale della piazza: con i suoi oltre 900 mq d’insieme, dopo il castello è il più grande edificio del centro storico.

Appartenuto alla famiglia Modio fino al 1850, passò poi a quella dei Mariani, la cui ultima erede è stata la contessa Lia Mariani Bianchi Ninni; oggi l’immobile è di proprietà della Diocesi di Civita Castellana.

Fatta eccezione per la facciata, purtroppo a causa di sciagurati interventi strutturali buona parte degli interni sono stati irrimediabilmente snaturati e non resta molto da descrivere.

This imposing 15th-century building dominates the southern side of the square. Covering over 900 square meters, it is the largest structure in the historic center after the castle. Originally belonging to the Modio family until 1850, it later passed to the Mariani family, whose last heir was Countess Lia Mariani Bianchi Ninni; today, the property belongs to the Diocese of Civita Castellana.

With the exception of the façade, much of the interior has been irreversibly altered due to unfortunate structural interventions, leaving little of its original character to describe
